A heavy, fluid, unique, knee-length skirt with large hip pockets and belt loops. The name refers to its smoothly-flowing drape and swirling seamlines. Made in the USA of imported fabric. I designed this in 2016-2018 and it was brought to life by a Kickstarter project in the summer of 2018: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/skirtcraft/unisex-skirts-2
STYLE
- Unisex
- Two large hip pockets
- Distinctive spiralling seams
- Heavy-weight, for stable pockets and better privacy
- A fluid, natural drape—despite the weight
- Six belt loops
- Colors: black, purple, grey
- Distinctive asymmetric seams
- Seven belt loops: three in front, four in back (two in center back). Note: some photos are of a prototype with only five belt loops; actual product has seven.
- Colors: black, khaki
CONSTRUCTION
- Main fabric: 6-ounce plain weave
- Linen gives it a natural texture and durability
- Rayon gives it excellent drape and prevents wrinkles
- Plain weave is the simplest of weaves: a simple over-under pattern that produces a strong fabric that's the same on each side. Contrast with twill, the weave that produces diagonal lines and is used in denim (and our Unaligned Skirt).
- About half the weight of jeans denim
- 55% linen, 45% rayon
- Lining: 11-ounce ponte di roma
- Ponte di Roma is a style of knit that's smooth and stable (less stretchy) compared to other knits
- At 11 ounces per square yard, it's quite weighty
- The unexpectedly fluid drape of this heavy fabric is due to the rayon content and the ponte knit style
- 67% rayon, 28% nylon, 5% spandex
- Side zipper: YKK nylon coil
- Closure: metal hook-and-bar
SIZING
Sizes are waist sizes. Your size may or may not be your usual size, due to variation between brands. To determine your size:
1. Select a pair of pants/trousers, or a skirt, that fits you well. Preferably of a heavier fabric like denim, and not stretchy.
2. Lay it out flat. Pull the waistband from the sides so that it is lying nearly in a straight line (but not stretched).
3. Measure at the waistband from left to right.
4. Compare the measurement to how the skirt sizes measure in the following table. Keep in mind that there is some variation between skirts of a given size, so your skirt's measurement may be off by up to about 3/8 inch (1 cm) from the values given.
- 28-29: 14 1/2 in / 36 3/4 cm
- 30-31: 15 1/2 in / 39 1/4 cm
- 32-33: 16 1/2 in / 42 cm
- 34-35: 17 1/2 in / 44 1/2 cm
- 36-37: 18 1/2 in / 47 cm
- 38-39: 19 1/2 in / 49 1/2 cm
- 40-41: 20 1/2 in / 52 cm
- 42-43: 21 1/2 in / 54 1/2 cm
- 44-45: 22 1/2 in / 57 1/4 cm
All sizes are 21 1/2 in (57 cm) long, measured on the side, from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the hem.
